A Preaction System is a fire sprinkler system that combines features of both dry and wet systems. It requires two triggers—typically a smoke detector and sprinkler activation—before water is released, reducing the risk of accidental discharge in sensitive areas.

In normal condition, preaction system does not contain water in the sprinkler piping. The sprinkler piping contains air pressure for the purpose of supervising its leak tightness.
